Abstract
This article defends that the Valencian humanist Luis Vives was the author of "Lazarillo de Tormes" and offers an exhaustive comparison between this work and the Sermon on the Mountain (according to St. Matthew’s version). The novel’s characters are perfect examples of all he behaviors critized by the Sermon, which, according to Vives, should offer a guide for the nner life and the social mores of European Renaissance Christians
