Implicación en actividades sedentarias y rendimiento académico en adolescentesdiferencias según variables sociodemográficas

Resumen

Este estudio analiza, por primera vez, las diferencias en el tiempo diario dedicado a diversas actividades sedentarias (AS) (productivas, de ocio tecnológico y sociales) y su relación con el rendimiento académico en función del sexo, el curso académico y el nivel socioeconómico (NSE) de los adolescentes españoles. La muestra ascendió a 681 participantes (50.2% chicas), entre los 12 y 18 años, quienes cumplimentaron cuestionarios de autoinforme. La probabilidad de menor éxito académico aumenta en los adolescentes que dedican dos o más horas a las AS sociales y tienen un menor NSE. Además, en los chicos también aumenta si le dedican cuatro o más horas a las AS de ocio tecnológico y dos o menos horas a las AS productivas. Como conclusión, los adolescentes pasan un elevado número de horas realizando actividades de tipo sedentario en horario extraescolar, aspecto que requiere de algún tipo de limitación porque pueden perjudicar el éxito académico, especialmente en los chicos adolescentes.
