Abstract
We present a morphologic ultrastructural study of 10 cases of oral mucosa lichen planus. Morphological changes are observed both at basal keratinocyte level and within the extracellular space. The basal lamina also presents frequent alterations in the way of reduplication or continuity defects. The possible role of these basal lamina changes in the transportation of immune celIs (T-lymphocytes, Langerhans celIs) is commented on as an indication of immune mechanisms intervening in the genesis of the process.
