Abstract
A case is described in which an aneurysmal bone cyst of the mandible in a 9-year-old girl caused extensive destruction of bone and root resorption. The differential diagnosis with malignancy was considered in view of the rapid growth of the lesion and its radiological characteristics. The surgical defect was reconstructed with autogenous bone from the iliac crest. The patient presents no functional or esthetic problems, and no recurrence has been observed over 8 years of follow-up.
