Abstract
When reconstructing any language a set of rules is to be taken into consideration. Under the light of the achieved experience in similar cases, it does not seem methodologically correct to accept etymological proposals devised for the Guanche language, or for any other language, when these proposals are based only on mere correspondences with words of other languages. This methodological principle should be valid even in those cases in which there is no doubt that both languages belong to the same linguistic group.
