Resumen

Autotransplantation of tooth can be considered a good alternative to orthodontic apliances, prostetic treatments, even restorative techniques in cases of dental agenesia or impacted teeth. The main advantages of this therapeutic option when a tooth has been missed are that the alveolar bone volume can be mantained or restored without neighbour teeth been damaged. The purpose of this paper is to present two cases of autotransplantation of third molar germs in young patients and a follow-up of three years. In each case a second permanent molar wich had not erupted due to impactation and ankylosis respectively, and had to be extracted at the same time, were replaced by two third molar germs. During periodic recall some complications of autotransplanted germs were detected including root development arrest, pulpal obliteration and ankylosis.
