Abstract

In this work we present three experiences in the application of GIS and remote sensing to the study of flood in the southeast of Córdoba Province, Argentina. In this region floods are the main natural risk affecting the possibilities for sustainable development. Natural and anthropic factors generates recurrent flood situations, with strong monetary losses in a region whose economy depends on cattle and agriculture. The application of geographic information technologies (GIS and remote sensing) to the study of this phenomenom provides decision makers with accurate planning and risk management tools.
