Abstract
The evaluation of the contribution of strategic group analysis as a strategic evaluation tool, and as a valid �construct� to explain differences in a company�s behavior and outcomes is shown in this work. These evaluations initially lead to study the main strategic group conceptual alternatives. Secondly, we evaluated their explanatory capabilities when faced with different outcomes, by presenting an explanation of observed inconsistencies based on the Resource- Capability Model. This allowed us to build a panoramic view of several different group applications arising from the different traditional theories that have approached this subject.
