Abstract

It is generally believed that Agamemnon was negatively depicted in Euripides' Hecuba as a coward and an indecisive person, because the reservations of the King haven't been correctly interpreted. The reading we propose here, which we complete with Seneca, Gelli and Pérez de Oliva's interpretations on the character, is that these reservations should be studied as a sign of prudence in very specific political circumstances.
