Nuevas tecnologías telemáticas y trabajo grupal. Una perspectiva psicosocial

Resumen

El análisis psicosocial de los procesos y resultados grupales en situaciones de comunicación mediada ha recibido una especial atención por parte de los científicos sociales. En este trabajo se revisan las principales aportaciones y se señalan los logros y limitaciones, así como algunas perspectivas de futuro. Desde los estudios iniciales (Morley y Stephenson, 1977; Short et al. 1976), se ha potenciado enormemente este tipo de investigación y, se han llevado a cabo diversas revisiones comprensivas acerca de los avances obtenidos hasta el momento (Culnan y Markus, 1987; Peiró y Prieto, 1993; Andriessen 1991). Durante la última década, se han superado algunos nuevas problemáticas acordes con la creciente sofisticación de las tecnologías telemáticas, en función de diferentes medios de comunicación (correo electrónico, videoconferencia, conferencia a través de ordenador y nuevos sistemas de apoyo al trabajo en grupo). Recientemente, se ha señalado la necesidad de enfocar esta problemática desde una perspectiva más global e integradora que considere la interacción entre estructura grupal, tareas, medio utilizado, procesos grupales, ejecución y otros resultados para posibilitar su aplicación a grupos de trabajo distribuidos. Todas estas contribuciones serán especialmente relevantes en una situación, cada vez más frecuente, en la que las actividades desarrolladas en el trabajo están fuertemente interrelacionadas y son interdependientes.
