Abstract

The study of time allocation to different tasks of a job offers relevant Information about that job and about the subjective experiences of their incumbents. In addition, the information about the ideal time allocation for the same set of task the incumbent would make if it would be possible offers the possibility of analyzing the discrepancies between actual time allocation an the ideal one. This paper offers the results obtained on these job aspects as well as on workload in a sample of health care professionals working in 44 Primary Health Care teams After descriptive data, the differences in actual and ideal time allocation distributions as a function of shiftwork for the some job are analyzed. The influence of work overload and actual-ideal time allocation discrepancies on role conflict, ambiguity, job tension, job satisfaction and propensity to leave are also explored.
