We present five experiments in wich we study the development of priming in a naming task when the stimulus onset asynchrony (SOA) is considered appropiate for the development of automatic priming. In experiment 1, the unrelated prime facilitates the target after a series of 50 repetitions. Experiment 2a shows, not surprisingly, the same result when the SOA was set to 750 ms. More interestingly, the switch of asynchrony from 750 to 250 ms shows that priming was already present at that short SOA (Experiment 2b). Experiment 3a y 3b test the persistence of the «newly» acquired automatic priming three months later. Both experiments show that this episodic automatic priming persists for that period of time, indicating that this is not a short-lived phenomenon. Results are interpreted along the lines that automatic and attentional priming form a continuum and that integration of knowledge lead to an automatic response
