Resumen

Assessing the integrity of a Palaeolithic sequence with refitting of laminar fragments: the case of Cova de les Cendres (Teulada-Moraira, Alicante).Cova de les Cendres, located in the current coastline of Alicante (Spain), has a wide sequence with human occupations throughout the Upper Palaeolithic. That situation force us to make a taphonomic study to assess the integrity of the stratigraphy and know better the formation processes, with the goal of constructing a more reliable interpretation of archaeological data. Fracture refits of laminar fragments –including blades, bladelets and laminar flakes– allow us to analyze the degree of integrity of each layer and to detect the mixtures between different units. The refits found in Aurignacian, Gravettian and Solutrean layers are quantified and analyzed with spatial methodology, revealing a pattern of few short vertical displacements and a relative good preservation of the cultural sequence.
