Resumen

Poverty and social exclusion which started in 2008 because of the crisis are not just urban. Rural areas also suffer from it. Therefore, we would like firstly to consider whether this crisis and the administrations’ interventions are the root of new individuals excluded in rural areas, and secondly, if so, we would like to get more fully acquainted concerning features that differentiate them from other traditional groups in a similar situation, also taking into account how traditional groups are affected by the same processes. From the study cases of Sierra de Alcaraz and Campo de Montiel regions, and conducting 22 semi-structured interviews with various stakeholders, we can see on the one hand that there is a vulnerable group (“standardized” families); and on the other hand, we can see how social exclusion traditionally affects the rural population.
