Resumen

Although the so-called Dialogus de Oratoribus is traditionally attributed to Tacitus, he is very unlikely to have been the actual author of this rather special book. The many differing ideological and literary data found in De Oratoribus and the works that we can ascribe with certainty to Tacitus provide an additional supporting argument -besides others of a bio-graphical, linguistic, stylistic, etc. nature- that reinforces reservations about Tacitus disputed authorship. The fact that De Oratoribus shares with Quintilian's Institutiones Oratoriæ many ideological and literary issues -as well as biographical, linguistic and stylistic ones- adds to the debate.
