Abstract

The objective of this dissertation is to explore the effectiveness of future-oriented positive psychological interventions in the promotion of well-being levels for general and clinical populations. This goal has been addressed through four studies. Firstly, a meta-analysis aimed to investigate the general effectiveness of these interventions in the promotion well-being. The second and thirs studies has consisted of two randomized controlled trials to test the efficac y of the best possible self exercise in general population and in patients diganosed of eating disorders (ED). The fourth study has consisted of the implementation of a group intervention for inpatients of an eating disorder service. Results have shown that these interventions are feasible and partially efficacious when compared to control groups. This dissertation opens the door to continue exploring the utility that these interventions can have in clinical settings.
