Its research activity began in the Department of Plant Biology in 2003. Its area of knowledge corresponds to Edaphology and Agricultural Chemistry. Our group's research is of a marked multidisciplinary nature, framed within the following lines of research: environmental cartography, taxonomy, genesis and soil evaluation; soil contamination and recovery; plant mineral nutrition; and waste treatment and waste treatment and exploitation. More than 15 doctoral theses and more than 200 studies have been supervised, including undergraduate theses, research papers, master's degree final projects and undergraduate degree final projects. The members of the group have participated in the organisation and holding of different national and international scientific meetings and conferences. It has more than 300 scientific publications, including books, book chapters and articles in JCR journals, of which more than 100 are in Q1. The group's members have carried out (as PI or as participants) more than 60 competitive research projects, as well as numerous R&D&I contracts or agreements with public or private administrations or entities. The group's researchers belong to several international and national scientific societies (International Union of Soil Sciences, European Society for Soil Conservation, Spanish Society of Soil Science [SECS], Spanish Composting Network [REC], among others). In particular, the lines on contamination and soil degradation and the case of potentially toxic elements (PTEs) stand out. It has been working on this line for more than 30 years. The following publications can be highlighted: Environ Pollut 1996, 92:19; Chemosphere 2002, 46:355; Bull Environ Cont Toxicol 1995, 54:228; Chemosphere 2004, 55:1027; Land Degration Develop 2018, 29:3344; Chemosphere 2010, 78:409; J Geochem Explor 2010, 107:110; J Geochem Explor 2011, 110:186; J Geochem Explor 2014, 147:260; PLoSOne 2017, 12(8):e0181901. Other studies are related to risk assessment in greenhouse soils in the southern Iberian Peninsula (Poniente Almeriense) (Land Degration Develop 2018, 29:3344; Environ Geochem Health 2020, 42:313-324). Aspects related to analytical methodologies and techniques: Soil Sci Soc Amer J 2009, 73:1; J Soil Sed 2013, 13:253; Arch Environ Cont Toxicol 1995, 29:476; Environ Geochem Hlth 2008, 30:171), J Chromatogr 1996, 719:69; Journal of AOAC International 1998, 81:5; J AOAC Inter 2001, 84:1209; Phytochemistry 2004, 65:1869; Chemosphere 2011, 84(1):1; Eur J Soil Sci 2014, 65:286; Sci Total Environ 2018, 640:840. Topics of interest in soil phytoremediation (J Geochem Explor 2012, 113:106; J Geochem Explor 2012, 123:109; Catena 2016, 136:66). Regarding waste management, some members of the research group have been working on waste explotation and treatment and composting issues for many years. Relevant results have been published in prestigious journals: Iranzo et al., Biores Technol 2004, 95:107; Roca-Pérez et al., Sustainable organic waste management for environmental protection and food safety 2005, 2:247; Roca-Pérez et al., Chemosphere 2009, 75:781; Iranzo et al., Science of the Total Environment 2018, 640? 641: 840? 848); Roca-Pérez et al., Chemosphere 2009, 75:781;
