Abstract

Este artículo analiza la estrategia de reshoring en el contexto de las cadenas de valor globales. A través de una revisión de la literatura especializada, se define el concepto de reshoring, así como los factores impulsores, obstáculos y retos asociados a esta estrategia. Estos aspectos se evidencian en una muestra de 240 empresas manufactureras españolas. Los resultados indican que la decisión de relocalizar no es muy común, siendo el reshoring, en gran medida, parcial, recuperándose ciertos procesos productivos, pero no la totalidad de la operaciones productivas. Además, la relocalización tiende a realizarse hacia el país de origen, principalmente en la compra de materias primas y productos intermedios, seguida de otras actividades productivas. Los motivos principales son el mayor control sobre la cadena de valor y la cercanía al cliente junto con el deseo de ser más sostenible. El artículo concluye con recomendaciones directivas y de políticas públicas, subrayando la necesidad de favorecer el desarrollo de capacidades locales y el impulso de la innovación, la sostenibilidad y la competitividad a nivel global.
