Abstract

The objective of the work was to know the relationship between moral competence, criminal thoughts and emotional intelligence, and determine the role of academic formation in the development of these concepts. The sample consisted of a total of 143 students of Law, Social Work and Psychology from the University of Valencia. The results show that there is no relationship between criminal thoughts and moral competence, if it is related to the arguments for and against about the way of working of the workers and the doctor in moral dilemmas. With respect to emotional intelligence, there is no relationship with respect to criminal thoughts, except for the interpersonal intelligence factor. With respect to the academic degree, differences appear in terms of criminal thoughts, arguments for and against and emotional intelligence. It can be concluded that academic formation has a relevant role when assessing moral dilemmas, from a more objective perspective, based on legal ordering, or more emotional, when considering arguments of an empathic nature.
