Abstract
The article explores Joan Fuster’s relationship with the Alfons el Magnànim In-stitution and its successor, the Valencian Institution of Studies and Research, over more than forty years, mainly based on the writer’s correspondence. This relationship had two strong moments, in the fifties, when Fuster published several studies in the Revista Valenciana de Filología; and in the eighties and early nineties, when the old institution was transformed into the Valencian Institution of Studies and Research. The article includes the project of a Literary History of the Valencian Country, which Fuster proposed to the Alfons el Mag-nànim Institution, but which, despite having been approved, was not finally carried out.
