Abstract

The work describes editions of the Bible in Spanish preserved by members of the Sumacàrcer evangelical community and their descendants, most of them in charge of English Bible Societies, the carriers and the diffusion of Bibles and other forbidden texts in Valencian Protestant churches. From the edict of the Inquisitor Beltrán (1782) and the publication in València by Felipe Scio of the first edition in Spanish (1791), the constitutions of the end of the 19th century until 1931; from an apparent tolerance (1937-1946) and later intolerance (1946-1956), until the Castiella era (1957-1965) and the Conciliar Declaration (1966), to the law 44/1967, of religious freedom.
