Abstract
The herbicides diquat. paraquat andglyphosate can beanalized inedible oils by high performance liquid chromatography with ultraviolet detection at 210 nm using an octadecylsilane column, andmethanol-KH2PO40,005 M(4:96, v/v) adjusted to pH 2,1 with phosphoric acid as the mobile phase. Recoveries from 90-93 % canbeobtained with pH 7 aqueous phosphate buffer extraction procedure. Glyphosate and paraquat residues were notdetected in theanalyse oftwelve verge olive oil samples from olive cultivation, sprayed with these herbicides. Only two of the analysed oils, present diquat residues.
