Abstract
In this article we approach Cicero´s proposal in the famous chapter ‘Th e Dream of Scipio’ in his book De re publica, where he states a paradise for the souls of the most illustrious politicians. Th e proposal came up at a time of crisis in the Roman Republic and it sought a stimulus to honest men to save the state. Despite its evanescence, the Roman emperors used it to strengthen the foundations of their own power.
