Abstract

INTRODUCTION The labour accidents are elevated. Spain has the highest index of nonmortal accidents of all the European Union and third in the fatal accidents. Their economic cost, is 1200 million euros to the year. The ocular accidents constitute 10% of the accidents of the body MATERIAL and METHOD We have studied the labour accidents with loss The documents are: part industrial accident with loss and the relation of discharges or deaths. In the ocular accidents, we made a study retrospective descriptive epidemiologist where we gathered the diagnosis and another prospective with the data of a survey. In the study of the ocular symptoms in usuary and nonusuary workers of PVD, 1533 users participated and 405 nonusuary ones and we were based on clinical history and a survey "ad hoc". RESULTS The most frequent injury of the total of accidents and the slight ones was twists, sprain and distensions. In the serious ones, fractures and in the mortal, multiple injuries. Most frequent location of the total of accidents, slight and the serious ones they were the hands. In the mortals, multiple injuries. The annual loss in euros has been increased. The services have greater loss in constant euros and the construction greater percentage increase in constant euros. The economic loss by average duration of a loss in terms of constant euros has diminished. Prototype of ocular accident is the caused one by strange body, left eye, man, 15-30 years, industrial sector, antiquity in his job inferior to 6 months and one greater labor antiquity of 10 years. Prevalence of symptoms is greater between users of PVD that between not usuary, like between that they make pause and those that not. The relative risk to present some symptom is increased in the men and population in general, but in the women single the one of the sensation see worse. DISCUSSION With very simple measures could diminish the number of accidents. The temporality is the reason that the losses in euros are greater. The gravity of the accidents has diminished. Whatever more hours are used PVD, is greater the prevalence of the ocular symptoms. It is more frequent than a woman suffers an ocular symptom that a man. But the risk of presenting a symptom to use PVD increases in the men.
